UYBA, in Chieri a match worth the Italian Cup

Eurotek Laica UYBA is ready to return to the field immediately for a match that weighs a lot. After the championship match played on Friday at the e-work Arena, ended with a 3-1 victory for Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76Tuesday evening at 8.30pm Enrico Barbolini’s farfalle will face the Piedmontese again. This time the stage will be the Pala Fenera and the stakes are even higher: the pass for the Italian Cup Finalsscheduled for 24 and 25 January at the Inalpi Arena in Turin.

For the red and white team, any qualification would represent a result of great value, because it would mean return among the top four teams in Italya goal that is missing from the 2021/2022 season. The obstacle is a challenging one: Chieri, especially at home, has demonstrated solidity, organization and roster depth. Friday’s match confirmed the quality of the Piedmontese, also led by the former Spirito, Kunzler and Degradi.

At the same time, however, the match in Busto Arsizio offered encouraging signs for UYBA, capable of playing on par for long stretches and putting Chieri in difficulty at various moments. An aspect that fuels confidence in view of the dry challenge, where every detail can make the difference.

The eve includes training today at the e-work Arena, then departure tomorrow morning towards Piedmont for finishing directly at the Pala Fenera. The medical staff is monitoring the conditions of Parra, who is not yet at his best due to a problem with a finger on his right hand, of Gennari, who has just recovered from the flu, and of Torcolacci, who was rested as a precaution in the last match. All three, barring any surprises, should be at Barbolini’s disposal.

The match will be broadcast live on Volleyball World TV and will also represent the last commitment of 2025 for UYBA. The new year will then open with another away match: Sunday 4 January in Pesaro, against Vallefoglia, for the fifth day of the championship.

As Silke Van Avermaet on the eve:
«It’s clear that Chieri is a very strong team, even more so this year, and we saw it on Friday. It’s never easy to play at Pala Fenera, which is a very warm and different arena from ours, but I think we are making progress. We go there with confidence and want to play our best volleyball. Let’s hope it’s enough to win the match.”

These are the quarter-final pairings:
[1] Conegliano vs [8] Bergamo
[4] Novara vs [5] Milano
[2] Scandicci vs [7] Vallefoglia
[3] Chieri vs [6] Bust Arsizio
