New Audi A3 is ready to hit the market after the awaited restyling.
Through stolen photos and exclusive illustrations, Auto-Moto reveals the main lines of the restyling of the Audi A3, expected in the coming months.
Despite its relative youth, given that it will be released in 2020, the Audi A3 already seems to be working hard to complete its restyling. While the current Mercedes A-Class received a new look last summer, the restyling of the BMW 1 Series is expected in the coming months, but Audi could follow suit very quickly, against all odds. The camouflaged prototype just spotted by our scoop hunter suggests a very advanced development, so much so that this new A3 could lift the veil on the new look by the end of the year.
Clearly, the current compact Audi does not welcome updates from the two German competitors. And in particular those which the 1 Series will benefit from very soon, whose ancestors have decided to completely renew the plank to equip it with a large digital panel including two screens, one of which is touch-sensitive, like the A-Class. The Audi A3 therefore has a lot to fear in terms of interior performance. However, the Ingolstadt model is unlikely to revolutionize its interior. Indeed, the introduction of this type of XXL screen should only be inaugurated next year on the future A4.
It is therefore on the outside that most of the changes are to be expected on this new Audi A3. The shape of the headlights will not change one iota, apparently, but new daytime running lights will be applied. Further down, we can see the redesigned air intakes inside the bumper, which rejects any protruding edges. In this regard, the profile of the front grille will be softer in line with the brand’s new stylistic policy.
TECHNICAL DATA AND PRSTASUINI
In profile, the wheels should also benefit from a new design, even if the development model seen in Lapland features already familiar wheels. The changes will be more noticeable in the part rear, with the daytime running lights of the new Audi A3 taking the shape of an arrow. The lower bumper will also get a new look, as demonstrated by the vertical reflectors. In comparison, the current A3 has horizontal reflectors.
It is still too early to give any indications on the evolution of engines. Units may be included i48V bride, while the rechargeable units, currently two (204 and 245 hp), could have higher power levels and their all-electric range will be significantly increased.
The new Audi A3 could be unveiled at the end of the year, ahead of the first deliveries scheduled for early 2024. A complete revamp of the range that will probably go hand in hand with the launch of a slightly raised and adventurous variant called the AllStreet. Although it was hoped for last summer, the latter seems to have been postponed to take advantage of the media attention that will be dedicated to the restyling of the entire range.
