The 35 migrants from the Ocean Viking landed yesterday in Ortona

ORTONA – The Ocean Viking appears in port around 6.10pm on Wednesday, a good hour behind schedule. Docking at the dock takes place half an hour later. On board there is a group of castaways, 35, made up of adult men, originally from Bangladesh, mostly in good health.

The migrants were saved by the Ocean Viking, a ship of the NGO SOS Mediterranee, in the night between Sunday and Monday in the search and rescue area shared by Italy and Malta. Only three required more in-depth health visits.

Once the disembarkation operations were concluded, the NGO crew gave a long round of applause which sounded like a wish for their future life. Once the migrants landed they were transferred to the Tamarete district facility where they were identified, refreshed and visited, from there they then left for their final destination.

The castaways will all remain in Abruzzo spread over the four provinces. The device is now well established as this is the eighth landing for the port of Ortona and in particular the second of 2024.
