CASTELLAMONTE – A near-tragedy occurred this afternoon, Sunday 24 September 2023, in Sant’Antonio di Castellamonte where an ultralight plane crashed. It is an aircraft with two people on board that fell in the meadows of the hamlet, right in front of the town church.
The people on board are both injured. The intervention of firefighters and 118 personnel is underway: it is possible that the pilot was unable to land on the runway of the nearby Sant’Antonio airfield and then lost altitude in the meadows of the hamlet.
Fortunately, there are no other people involved. Investigations are underway into the dynamics of the incident by the Carabinieri of Rivarolo Canavese. The accident occurred shortly before 6pm. The two injured were taken by ambulance to the emergency room of Ivrea hospital. Their lives are not in danger: they have suffered various traumas. They are two men, one resident in Castellamonte and one resident in Barbania.
