“Communicating with European institutions”, meeting at Villa Dante on Monday 8 July

The relationships between European institutions and national, regional and local institutions (and how they communicate). This will be the topic of the meeting “Communicating with European institutions” that will be held on Monday 8 July at 5 pm, in the new structure of Villa Dante, with the professor of the University of Messina, Anna Pitrone (Associate Professor of European Union Law and Academic Director of the European Documentation Centre Unime), who among the topics will also delve into the EU’s openness to direct dialogue with citizens.

The event was planned as part of the project “The Democratic Project in Action”, an initiative by the Metropolis Association of Messina (funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme) which aims to bring young people from Messina closer to political life, increasing awareness of the importance of being active citizens and thus increasing voter turnout.

The aim of the project is also to acquire knowledge about the European Union and how institutional buildings work, using non-formal education methods. For this reason, at the end of the meeting with the Unime teachers, a debate will be held on what could be the ideas and proposals to improve inter-institutional relations, streamline bureaucracy and create a more direct dialogue with young people, shortening the distances that citizens feel with the institutions that deal with the decision-making process.

0.25 credits will be awarded to students of the University of Messina who will take part in the meeting.
