PISTOIA – Twenty years after his death, the Municipality of Pistoia remembers Tiziano Terzani with a calendar of initiatives featuring nature. “Places of the heart“, this is the title of a busy calendar of cultural events organized with the involvement of local associations, particularly Orsigna, where the writer passed away after a long illness, with the aim of promoting knowledge of his work and the places to which he was very attached.
To the program of activities “In memory of Anam” is accompanied by a cycle of “Reading, telling, meeting…in summer“, and again the photographic exhibition “Orsigna Master Mountain” which opens on Friday 12 July in the Frescoed Rooms of the Town Hall and then the journey “On the trail of Titian” on board the Porrettana Express on Sunday 7 July.
In his latest interview, the journalist says he spent three months in an Ashram in India. He had chosen to call himself Anam, which translated from Sanskrit means “without a name”, thus making himself a perfect stranger. Hence the title of the first part of meetings, “In memory of Anam“ precisely, that opens Saturday 6th July (and repeats on August 3) with the workshop “Being a Tree” at the Molino di Giamba meadow, in Orsigna, from 10 to 12 and from 16 to 18. An observation of nature through visualizations, group games and identification, to discover the tree that we are, with Alessandra Gori, psychologist and psychotherapist. Sunday 7th Julyat 4pm it will be the turn of “Knowing the Mountain – Snakes“ at La buca (Piazza Orsigna) with Tommaso Cencetti, organized by the Orsigna Cultural Association.

On July 14th, August 4th and September 15thfrom 3pm to 6.30pm there is Itineraries of the senses – Tiziano Terzani special encounters with the nature of Orsigna, with walks, forest bathing, stops and readings of passages by Tiziano Terzani with the forest doctor Francesca Spadaro, the psychologist and psychotherapist Alessandra Gori and Lorenzo Montagnani, Yoga teacher. Saturday 20th Julythe event at 4pm “Knowing the mountain – Mushrooms” at La buca (piazza Orsigna) with Nicolò Oppicelli, mycologist, journalist and science communicator, organized by the Orsigna Cultural Association.
Tai Chi Workshop in nature Sunday 21st Julyfrom 10.30 to 12.30, with a tea ceremony with Francesco Parretti, Tai-chi teacher. The event, with mandatory reservation, is organized by the association La Compagnia del Bosco.
Always Sunday 21st Julyfrom 3pm to 5pm, a workshop on recognition anduse of wild herbs with Valentina Fatichenti, organized by the association La Compagnia del Bosco; reservations required.
Il July 27th and August 17that 3pm with meeting at Pracchia station, Nature workshops for childrendedicated to the discovery of trees and nature with the creation of clay artifacts with Massimo Mariani and Emanuela Puzio, environmental guides. Closes the November 2ndfrom 10am onwards “Chestnut Festival”. Traditional Orsigna festival, with a closing event dedicated to the memory of Tiziano Terzani, organized by the Orsigna Cultural Association.

“Orsigna Master Mountain”from July 12th to August 30th a photographic exhibition in the Frescoed Rooms of the Town Hall, which through the shots of the photographer Alexey Pivovarov skilfully conveys Terzani’s relationship with the natural environment of that place.
It will be open from Tuesday to Friday 10-12 / 16 -19, Saturday and Sunday 11-13 / 16 – 19.
Inside the exhibition it will be possible to listen to a video interview with Angela Terzani, curated by Associazione ‘9cento di Pistoia. The initiative is curated by 00A Centro per la Fotografia Contemporanea in collaboration with the Municipality of Pistoia.

It’s long Tiziano Terzani’s editorial career and two shelves of the library are not enough to collect it. The titles of his books are always suggestive, to name a few: looking at flowers from a running horse, leopard skin, another round of the carousel, the forbidden door, a fortune teller told me. It is possible ask for a loan from San Giorgio the texts he wrote or those of those who wanted to remember him: his brother, his wife and his son, his companions during some travels and the many friends and colleagues, who agree in defining him as a great writer and an immense man.
