ClairvauxJuly 2, 2024 – Starting July 3, at 9 pm, the courtyard behind the Municipal Library Max Ferretti of Chiaravalle will be the setting for three consecutive Wednesdays for the event One Day, One Life. Three Italian Films in the History of Cinema edited by Roberto Ferrettiwhich will introduce the screening of the three films on the program: A particular day Of Hector School (1977), The blue planet Of Frank Piavoli (1982), A pure formality Of Giuseppe Tornatore (1994).

«The chosen films – explains Ferretti, essayist and publicist of cinematographic culture, expert in cinema education and sound and music in film – all take place in the span of a single day: whether it is Hitler’s arrival in Rome in Italy in 1938, or the metaphorical twenty-four hours – in reality the cycle of the seasons – during which the miracle of life is poetically shown, or the anguishing night in which, after glimpses of the rest of the day, the very meaning of existence is at stake. Three true masterpieces, not only of Italian cinema but also of world film art, capable of reflecting the souls that gradually characterized the choice of films during the Chiaravalle film clubs of the Seventies: from the political-civil one to the more existential one through the ‘ecologist’ side».

For the mayor Cristina Amicucci «in Chiaravalle, where there has been a lack of cinemas for almost 40 years, there is no lack of love for cinema, which has its roots in that extraordinary cultural and cinephile season whose main architect in the Seventies was George Candelaresi. A love that has also inspired the festivals we have promoted from 2013 to today: ‘Young people tell the stories of young people’, ‘Women tell the stories of women’, ‘A philosopher at the cinema’ and ‘Everything is illuminated’”.

«To be present – says the culture councilor Francesco Favithis new cycle is now added, which wants to recall the golden decade of arthouse cinema: it is no coincidence that for the three screenings we have chosen the space that since June 25th has borne the name of Giorgio Candelaresi; the curation of the review is also entrusted to the film critic Roberto Ferretti, who with Candelaresi wrote the book ‘Between Chiaravalle and Cinecittà’ and who, more than anyone else, can be considered its heir».
