Tomato, processing: agreement between the parties, average price between 150 and 160 euros per ton

Below is the press release:

After a long and complex negotiation, ANICAV and the POs of the Central and Southern Italy basin have signed an Agreement for the management of the next tomato transformation campaign.

The parties confirmed the framework of the Area Framework Contract approved in 2022 and also applied in the 2023 campaign, with the only variation of the parameters relating to minor defects in the raw material in order to ensure the industries a higher quality of the tomato to be processed.

Without prejudice to the contractual autonomy of individual companies when signing supply contracts, the parties, on the basis of a series of criteria, have defined an average reference price of €150/ton for round tomatoes And €160/ton for long tomatoes it’s a increase of €30/ton for organic.

The sense of responsibility prevailed. – declares Marco Serafini President of ANICAV – Despite the better conditions of production costs compared to past campaigns which in other processing countries recorded reductions in raw material prices, we wanted to recognize, with great sacrifice, an average reference price for the agricultural part which remains the highest at world and which will have to guarantee our companies an improvement in the already high quality standards, which have always characterized our production, and the utmost attention during the harvesting phase, something on which we will be intransigent during the campaign.”
