A suspect for the death of Cristina Frazzica
The investigation into the death of Cristina Frazzicathe 30 year old from Voghera tragically hit and killed by a pirate boat in the Gulf of Naplesled to a first suspect. It’s the lawyer Guido Furgiuele, son of the well-known Neapolitan criminal lawyer Alfonso Furgiuele. It is precisely his boat, identified by the police, at the center of the investigations.
Cristina Frazzica was overwhelmed Sunday afternoon while she was in a kayak. After the accident, the signal of SOS was launched about 30 minutes later from the same boat that rescued Vincenzo Leone, the other young man involved and survived. Cristina’s lifeless body was found not far from the crash site.
The circumstances of the accident still remain unclear. According to Leo, “He didn’t see us, he was going fast”. Furgiuele, in a statement to Ansa, said: “My six guests and I felt no impact. Then one of my guests saw a boy waving his arms in the stern and we went back to help him. He said that the girl had been hit by a very fast boat and we were convinced that she wasn’t mine. We couldn’t do more than help him and raise the alarm. If it turns out it was my boat, I will take responsibility, as required by law.”
The pirate ship
The pirate ship, an 18 meter cabin cruiser, was identified thanks to the video surveillance cameras installed at Villa Rosebery, the residence of the President of the Republic in Naples. The images show the yacht approaching and the fatal impact. After examining several shipyards, the authorities have seized a boat corresponding to the one filmed by the camerasnow available to the judicial authority for the assessments of the case.
The autopsy on Cristina’s body
Meanwhile, Cristina’s body is below autopsy examination to determine whether she died instantly or whether timely rescue could have saved her. Her body is expected to return to Voghera in the next few days for her funeral.
Cristina Frazzica was graduated in biotechnology from the University of Milan and had a master’s degree in physics. The sea and kayaking were among his greatest passions, so much so that he had found them employment in the sector for a multinational company based in Hamburg. Cristina, born in Taurianova, Calabria, a twin sister who lives in China, had lived for a long time in Voghera, in the province of Pavia. Naples, the city where she had moved a few months ago to attend the PharmaTech Academy of the Federico II University in Scampia, represented for her a new adventure full of promise. She was a volcanic girl, as those who knew her defined her, always on the move and full of vitality.
Messages of condolence
There were numerous messages of condolence on social media from teachers, friends and colleagues, including the local branch of the Democratic Party and the mayor Paola Garlaschelli, who expressed her pain on the institutional pages.

The Red Cross of Voghera, of which Cristina had been a volunteer between 2010 and 2015, also wanted to remember the young woman:
“Cristina, we remember you, a girl in the Red Cross, active with the youth group. Always smiling. How can we forget that smile that you never denied to anyone. Your studies and work took you away from us, but we certainly can’t forget all that that you gave us. We will always carry in our hearts.”
