The ninth edition of the Toscana Filmaker Festival is underway, from 11 to 13 June at the Castello. “This year too many events dedicated to Tuscan cinema, with an exceptional guest like the splendid actress Lucia Poli, a documentary of great importance for our territory”, says Simone Pinchiorri, artistic director together with Francesco Ciampi. The documentary “Casca il cielo” will open the festival on Tuesday at 9.30pm. Directed by Roan Johnson and Lorenzo Garzella, we remember the flood of last November 2nd: a terrible day that swept away lives and memories in a few moments, a tragedy that no one has forgotten. In the early evening there will also be space for screenings of the short films winners of the Poggio a Caiano Cinematelier festival competition. There are two titles: “Cotti in pizzeria” and “Work beats talent”. The first evening closes with the animated short film “The meatseller” by Margherita Giusti, produced by Luca Guadagnino who has already won the David di Donatello and the Nastro d’argento as best animated short. On the evening of June 12th the finalist short films of the Corto Toscana competition. Six titles are competing: “With thought linked to the sea” by Fabiana Fragale, “L’index” by Andrea Stocchi and Luca Menconi, “Il mio acquario” by Lavinia Andreini, “Rosso” by Lorenzo Puntoni, “La linea del Terminator” by Gabriele Bias, “Turisti” by Adriano Giotti.

Judging the works of the young Tuscan authors will be a jury composed of the director of photography Daniele Botteselle, the producer Stefano Rossi, the journalist and photographer Filippo Bardazzi. In addition to the prizes awarded by the jury, there will also be a prize for the public who will be able to vote at the end of the screenings. On the last evening, Thursday 13th, after the awards ceremony, the guest of the ninth edition of the festival. The great actress Lucia Poli will receive her lifetime achievement award. This was followed by the screening of a film by Paolo Benvenuti from 2000 in which she is the protagonist: “Gostanza da Libbiano”, which won a special jury prize at the Locarno international festival. Every evening is free entry.
