Mourning in politics: Massimiliano Pescini has died

This morning, Saturday 25 May, Massimiliano Pescini, twice mayor of San Casciano Val Di Pesa and then regional councilor, died.

“Great pain and immense regret for the premature death of Massimiliano Pescini. There are no words to express the heartbreaking pain for the death of a dear friend and a loyal colleague who leaves us” commented the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella. “Always at the service of his country of origin and his land, he leaves a great void in all of us. I express my deepest personal condolences and that of the Municipality and the Metropolitan City to my partner Marina, to my family and friends, to the Regional Council and to the entire San Casciano community” added the mayor, cwho as a sign of mourning has ordered that the flags of Palazzo Medici Riccardi, headquarters of the metropolitan city, be flown at half-mast.

“Massimiliano represented the best of politics and institutions. Passionate and competent mayor, militant open to discussion and always, always close to people and their needs. A cultured man, kind and attentive to those around him, he had a quick irony with which he always highlighted the funny aspects of things. Hello Massimiliano, my unforgettable friend, we will all miss you” concluded the mayor.

The President of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani also joins in the condolences. “You left too quickly dear Massimiliano, friend and companion of so much commitment and many battles. Always the figure for us of balance, dialogue, competence and determination in achieving the objectives we set ourselves but so profoundly human as to try to involve everyone in the interest of the community.”

“For me it is a moment of profound pain, the reaction I feel is “it’s not right”, with you one of the best people in sharing this commitment is leaving.
