Double alarm on the south waterfront

Repair work on a gazebo in the area of ​​a restaurant on the south seafront, a straw umbrella catches fire. There was a scare yesterday afternoon on the Piermanni coast, when the flames broke out from a section of the Capitan Cook restaurant-brewery, on the corner with via Bainsizza, where an intervention by the owners who is equipping an outdoor area is underway. Shortly after 6pm, during a phase of work, evidently due to a spark that was released from one of the tools used by a worker, the straw covering a mega umbrella placed to cover the gazebo caught fire. Attempts to put out the fire with buckets of water were useless. It took the intervention of a team of firefighters, who put out the flames and limited the damage, which fortunately was not extensive, apart from the incinerated umbrella. The fire released a column of smoke visible from the entire southern area of ​​the city and which has generated a lot of apprehension.

In those same moments, on the opposite side of the seafront, another emergency occurred on the eastern pavement which required the arrival of municipal police patrols, the police station and 118. They were alerted to a man who, in a state of alteration due to excessive alcohol, was bothering passers-by. The rescue workers and the police managed the situation without too many difficulties.
