After the success of the preview at Palmanova village, the 31st edition of Open Cellars comes to life, the event loved by all wine enthusiasts scheduled today and tomorrow in 78 wineries in the region.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia wine tourism movement, chaired by Elda Felluga, represents around 100 wineries in the area and this consolidated event will be a unique opportunity to discover the wine excellence of the region.

Two days full of initiatives to fully experience the varied world of wine, with the companies of Friuli Venezia Giulia ready to welcome enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad with the inevitable visits to the cellar and vineyards, tastings, sensory workshops, picnics in the vineyard , musical and cultural events.

Wine tourists will be able to experience the story and anecdotes that will enrich the knowledge and culture of wine through the stories of the winemakers, protagonists of this eagerly awaited event.

Like every year Open Cellars is not just wine, but also attention to local products through the collaboration with IosonoFriuliVeneziaGiulia. In the participating wineries there are also cheeses from “Naturamente da latte Friulano”, guided tastings with food-wine pairing, dinners with the winemaker and dishes from Open Cellars.

It will also be possible to purchase the Open Cellars kit including glass and glass holder at a cost of 10 euros. Part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Open Cellars 2024 will be an opportunity to implement a new technology that will allow the analysis of the presence and origin of visitors during the event, thanks to the partnership between the Fvg wine tourism movement and the university of Udine, a geotechnology laboratory.

The Fvg wine tourism movement will not stop at the event of the last weekend at the end of May, but will be the beginning of a journey that will last twelve months with a calendar of initiatives that arise from the creativity of the associated wineries, starting with Open Vineyards up to Calici di stelle in Grado, scheduled for Friday 9th and Saturday 10th August, on the suggestive seafront of the Nazario Sauro dam.

Open Cellars also coincides with the launch of the international Spirit of Wine competition, which selects and rewards satirical cartoons from all over the world on the theme of wine. The awards will be held next year during the first world festival of (eno)satire, in conjunction with the celebrations of Nova Gorica – Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025.
