The health situation is critical. In the last hours the city’s Al-Aqsa hospital remained without electricity due to fuel shortages. The children’s pediatric ward was the first to experience power cuts.

Meanwhile, three US soldiers were injured during the construction of the pier to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. One of them is in serious condition, US military sources report, quoted today by the American and Israeli media.

IDF: “The bodies of three hostages recovered”

The Israeli Defense Forces said they had recovered the bodies of three more Hamas hostages in the northern Gaza Strip, in the Mefalsim area.

It’s about Hanan Yablonka42 years old, Orio’n Herna’ndez Radoux30 years old (who was engaged to Shani Louk, the young Israeli-German whose body was found in recent days), and Michel Nisenbaum, 59 years old, also with Brazilian citizenship. The IDF claims that the three were killed on 7 October.

In the same place where they were found, Hamas militants killed four other hostages, whose bodies were recovered last week in a tunnel in Jabaliya. The IDF also said that their families have been informed.

In Jabaliya, where three other Palestinians were reported dead, a cache of rockets and missiles was also discovered. The Israeli army finally announced that it had opened investigations into videos showing soldiers burning books in Gaza, including copies of the Koran. It was the same soldiers employed in Rafah and at Al Aqsa University in Gaza city who published the images on social media, posts which were then relaunched by Palestinian activists.

Three neighborhoods of Rafah under attack by Israel

In the south three suburbs of Rafah are under attack by the Israeli army, who is advancing with tanks into the south-eastern part of the city. The Israel Defense Forces are trying to move further west and have reached a densely populated neighborhood, Yibnawhere thousands of displaced people live in precarious conditions.

A person responsible for the NGO’s operations Norwegian Refugee CouncilSuze van Meegen, stated that many civilians are still stuck in the fighting zone.

“The city of Rafah is now made up of three completely different worlds: the east is an archetypal war zone, the center is a ghost town and the west is a congested mass of people living in deplorable conditions,” van said Meegen in a note.

For months Rafah was the last refuge for 1.5 million Palestinians fled from all areas of the Gaza Strip, certain that they would be safe there, following instructions from the Israeli Defense Forces. 900 thousand people are displaced again in recent weeks.

The International Court of Justice on Friday called on Israel to “immediately” halt military operations in the Gaza Strip, following South Africa’s request to do so. The judges ruled that the precautionary measures, ordered in January after the case was opened, are at this point “insufficient” to prevent a genocide.
