Suspended teacher returns to duty but changes school

ORISTANO, 22 MAY – She had been suspended twice – first for having had a rosary made in class and making the children pray during a substitution, then for having slapped a 10-year-old pupil – now for Marisa Francescangeli, primary school teacher from the Oristano area , the last provision of the Regional School Office which lasted 90 days has ceased and can return to service. But the teacher – as reported by the Sardinian newspapers – decided to take sick leave and then change school starting next year. “A second nightmare ends for me – Marisa Francescangeli tells Unione Sarda -. However, for health reasons, I decided to stay at home. This is how I end my school year”. From September she will go to a primary school in Oristano. “After everything I’ve experienced, I prefer a change of scenery,” she said. Marisa Francescangeli was suspended for the first time in April 2023. She had been accused by some mothers of making children pray in class, the director had exposed the matter to the provincial school office which suspended the teacher for 20 days. The second provision dates back to February 22: she was accused of slapping a ten-year-old girl. For this she was suspended for three months. But the story doesn’t end here. Next September – writes L’Unione Sarda – there will be a new hearing before the judge of the Labor Court. The teacher, assisted by the lawyers Elisabetta Mameli and Domenico Naso of Uil, filed the appeal after the first suspension to request the annulment of the measure. “I have had no news, however, regarding the complaint filed three months ago at the San Vero Milis police station for mobbing actions.” (HANDLE).
