He lends 20 thousand euros and asks for 410 thousand, usury of 10% per day: 42-year-old arrested in Cimitile

The Carabinieri of the station Cemeterycoordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Nola, arrested a 42-year-old man with no criminal record from Cimitile in flagrante delicto for the crime of aggravated usury.

The man was placed in precautionary custody in prison by the Judge for preliminary investigations of Nola.

The investigation arose from complaint from a businesswoman from Nola, 44 years old. Starting from November 2018, the woman had received a loan of around 20,000 euros from the 42-year-old.

Over the months, however, she had been forced to repay a total amount of approximately 170,000 euros in interest only. Furthermore, the man requested an additional 240,000 euros from her, applying a usurious interest rate of 10% per day for each day of delay in payment.

The Carabinieri, through a house search of the 42-year-old, they found 3,500 euros in cashthe sum that the victim was about to deliver as a further usurious installment, in addition to another evidentiary documentation.

The victim, trapped in the vortex of usury, found himself forced to give large sums of money for years, without ever being able to pay off the debt. The interest applied by the loan shark had in fact increased the sum to disproportionate figures compared to the original loan.

After the arrest, the man was associated with the Naples Poggioreale prison, awaiting trial.
