The eleventh stage Foiano di Val Fortore – Francavilla al Mare of 207 kilometers was won by Jonathan Milan. In a very long sprint the Italian manages to bring home an important victory despite the headwind and a fall, that of Jackobsen who risked blocking the group. Fifth victory of the season for the Italian in a stage which saw the great escape of Champion, Affini and Van Dijke, caught in the final by the Group. Pogacar first pretends to give up, then takes over the position from Thomas, discouraging his attack in the last kilometre. With 135 kilometers to go, Champion, Affinie and Van Dijke broke away, taking a two-minute lead over the Maglia Rosa Group. After three kilometers completed there is the Casacalenda sprint won by Champion, from here onwards there is a lot of downhill and flat terrain: it is difficult for the escape to reach the end. An escape that at 100 kilometers the three remain far from the group and try to reach the finish line by increasing the advantage beyond 52 seconds. At the sprint in Fossacesia Marina the end of the fugitives is approaching. At 34 kilometers the group is compact. When the group enters Francavilla al Mare they prepare for the final sprint. The pink jersey looks for the sprint, Tomas also shows up, Ineos and Alpecin are there, together with Merlier, Groves and Jakobsen who try to sprint but the Italian Milan returns and reaches the finish line first in 4 hours 23 minutes and 18 seconds. Only one Italian behind the runner from Tolmezzo: Giovanni Lonardi. The pink jersey remains firmly on Pogacar with Domenico Pozzovivo recovering a position: he goes from 14th to 13th, further reducing the disadvantage from the pink jersey. Tomorrow twelfth stage: Martinsicuro-Fano of 193 kilometres. Flat stage for the first 50 km and subsequently dotted with walls and climbs until the finish. After a first part along the Adriatic, past Civitanova Marche, you move away from the sea to face a route made up of continuous ups and downs with more or less difficult climbs and climbs, 10 of which can be cataloged (of which 4 classified as GPM). The last, unpublished climb of Monte Giove is located 9 kilometers from the finish line and has gradients of over 10 percent.
