Arts and crafts of the past with Antonio Mugnano
TERMOLI. In search of arts and crafts from the past in Termoli. This time we went to a model maker of boats, trebuchets and other creations relating to the sea.
Since he was a child, he has been a lover of creating scale models of boats using various techniques and more. We are talking about Antonio Mugnano, 75 year old retired after a life spent at Fiat.
Grandson and heir of another great Antonio Mugnano known as “Pasanell”, the most loved Termoli native, photographed, drawn on canvases, an all-round representative of our Termoli and the seafaring vocation.
With his passion for delight in his little kingdom, in the construction of “jewels” such as galleons, paranza, trebuchets and lighthouses, like the one in Termoli.
There is no shortage of collectors and they often order works from him, while others, passing by, look at and fall in love with his creations. Last year, we acted as an intermediary, a gentleman from Brescia, having seen a report where Antonio showed his models, did everything he could to get in touch with him.
We helped him and he came from Brescia to Termoli, to get the trebuchet model made by Pasanell’s nephew. We listened to him to hear about his innate passion for creating these splendid scale models of some vehicles and structures that characterize the city of Termoli.
