On Friday afternoon, at the Cittadella dei Giovani, there was a first meeting between the Equal Opportunities Councils and Commissions that joined the “Let’s Unite on the Net” project, promoted by the Equal Opportunities and Gender Equality Council of the municipality of Alcamo.
Present at the meeting, in addition to the President and the V/president of the Consulta, Anna Alcamo and Bianca Polizzi, the councilor for social services Donatella Bonanno, the president of the 1st Council Commission Cenzio Fascella, the social workers Marilena Palmeri and Maria Teresa Bruno and the representatives of the Equal Opportunities Commissions of the municipalities of Erice, Equal Opportunities between Men and Women of Trapani, Equal Opportunities of Castellammare del Golfo, of Salemi, of Buseto Palizzolo, of Campobello di Mazara; the Equal Opportunities Councils of Capaci, San Vito Lo Capo, Ragusa and the Women’s Council of Menfi.
The meeting, moderated by the President of the Alcamo Council, was a first moment of discussion and sharing between the different experiences and realities of the cities that have joined the project and which, shortly, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding for a common action against violence against women, so that it can be combated in all its expressions, including gender violence. It is necessary to raise awareness among the community to become aware of the fact that violence can be next door, too often attitudes and behaviors masked by distorted feelings lead to violent gestures, which destroy entire families and which affect the feelings of society in general.
