Santa Croce leaves the Eccellenza with a large defeat as suffered in the last matches both at home and away from home. The sirocco wind annoyed the players quite a bit as they found themselves managing the game taking into account the adverse atmospheric threat. For a good half hour of the first half the teams had a balanced game that did not unseat them from the draw. Then in the 27th minute Giannauro was brought down in the area and the referee awarded the penalty foul which Giannauro himself converted for the 1-0. In the 40th minute, after a maneuvered move by the rossoblù eleven, Fratantono let loose a shot that went to the left of the Santacrocese goalkeeper Gravina, putting the game in the visitors’ favor. In the second half the 3-0 for Paternò was again achieved by Giannauro who took advantage of the ball that escaped the grasp of goalkeeper Gravina and ended up in the availability of the guest number nine who scored into an empty net. The 4-0 for a change was once again the work of Giannauro who headed the ball home after a nice, unmarked overhead kick from one of his team-mates. After going behind, Santa Croce could not find the strength and determination to get back on top and was easily skewered by the Paternians who proved to be vice leaders worthy of the position they occupy in the standings and which will lead them to play in the play offs. Santa Croce, on the other hand, will now start thinking about the future and the next competitive season in Promotion.
