The wait is over, because Sony has finally updated its official social channels with the announcement of the next games coming to subscribers PlayStation Plus Essentialwho will be able to start the new year with some interesting titles that can be downloaded at no additional cost.
The official announcement confirmed the leaks of the last few hours, given that among the games that will be available for subscribers to any of the tiers of the service at the beginning of January 2026 we also find Need For Speed Unbound for PS5. At the wheel is Criterion Games, a software house that distinguished itself with Burnout in the 2000s and which has already worked on the Need For Speed series, developing Hot Pursuit, Most Wanted and Rivals. There is therefore certainly no lack of knowledge of the subject, yet Unbound proved to be a chapter without great sprint, although it always remains light-hearted, fun and tacky to the right degree. Since its release in 2022, the title has continued to grow with a series of updates that have significantly expanded its contents. Therefore, new players and PlayStation Plus subscribers will now find a much richer game in their hands than it was at launch.
Then it’s the turn of Epic Mickey: Rebrushedavailable for PS4 and PS5, a remake by the Purple Lamp team of Warren Spector’s adventure originally released only on Wii, featuring a series of appreciable interventions and designed to keep the original author’s intuitions intact. We then return to Wasteland, the limbo in which the forgotten Disney characters live, always in the role of Mickey Mouse. The gameplay mechanics have remained the same, and the game preserves the charge of inventiveness and originality that characterized the original work, such as the ability to manipulate the game environment with paint and solvent. Excluding the graphics section, Rebrushed’s innovations in terms of gameplay are minimal, with Purple Lamp limiting itself to smoothing out the more angular aspects of a game that is still very valid today.
Finally we close with Core Keeper for PS4 and PS5. We are talking about a single and multiplayer sandbox adventure for 1 to 8 players. Collect relics and resources, explore the procedurally generated world, and build your base as you upgrade your skills and battle powerful Legendary Titans.
We remind you that all these games will be made available free of charge to starting subscribers from next January 6, 2026so in just under a week. For those wondering, there is still a few days to download LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3 and the other free games of December 2025 with PlayStation Plus Essential.
