A goal from the substitute Artistico in full stoppage time gives Spezia the direct clash and the Delfino a bad last page of 2025. B’s lunch match at Picco ended 2-1, with goals in the first half by Di Serio at the start and Dagasso in full stoppage time to set the score. Pescara increasingly last and incapable of taking home a match that seemed within reach.
Spezia-Pescara at 12.30 (last cadet lunch match of 2025) opened the B’s Boxing Day programme, preceded by Modena-Monza the day before won by the Brianza team 2-1 (Boxing Day evidently brings no luck to the Canarini, who in 2013 narrowly fell to Braglia at the hands of Marino’s Delfino with a decisive goal from Ragusa). For the opening kick-off of the match, with the teams lined up in mirror image (3-5-2), Gorgone (disqualified and replaced on the bench by deputy Testini as against Reggiana) had chosen to fully confirm the eleven chosen the previous round with the only new addition of Dagasso for Squizzato. Olzer was therefore on the pitch regularly despite his knee problems, with Valzania returning as central midfielder. In Spezia, the former Italian coach Roberto Donadoni kept out the former Verde and Lapadula at the start, together with the other attackers Vlahovic and Artistico, to rely on Soleri and Di Serio up front. The match approach was characterized by many duels in the midfield, with Spezia trying to impose and Pescara defending well before starting again. But in the 8th minute Spezia took the lead, with Di Serio able to pierce an innocent Desplanches. Goal validated after Var check. A great play by Olzer (big stop and powerful diagonal) is Pescara’s response in the 16th minute, with Mascardi saying no with a great reflex. It was then Desplanches’ turn to say no to a header from Kouda, before the Bandinelli-Comotto substitution between the hosts. Intense and interesting match, with two yellow cards – one on each side – Kouda and Capellini – in the first 22 minutes. Then Desplanches with a flick avoids the Ligurian 2-0 on a very treacherous cross-shot from Wisniewski. Spezia was better in the first 30′, in short, more concentrated and combative. An Aurelio-Brosco clash, which forced both to return to the field with a turban on their heads, interrupted the game for a few minutes. The end of the half, after a double intervention by Desplanches on Aurelio and Di Serio, gave a surprise equalizer by Dagasso, his first career goal in Serie B, who in the last action of the maxi injury time (6 minutes) threw the ball behind Mascardi in anger.
After the interval, Pescara returned with Sgarbi for the injured Brosco and therefore with Letizia to climb into the defense trio (the flu-affected Meazzi was absent at Picco, extending a list of heavy unavailability which also included Graziani, Tsadjout, Oliveri, Faraoni, Pellacani and Merola). Spezia aggressive at the start, rabid after having conceded the equalizer at the last minute in the first half. In the 54th minute, Spezia had a super opportunity on the restart, Beruatto devoured the new lead by hitting the ball against the post in two against one. Then Caligara comes in for a Dagasso who isn’t at his best. In the heart of the second half the match experienced a tired phase, with few chances and many referee whistles to break up the game. In the 63rd minute Caligara posts with a nice low shot, then Mascardi says no to Tonin, who 6′ later gives way to Cangiano. Donadoni instead changed both strikers, but inserting Vlahovic and Artistico and not the former Verde and Lapadula (also in the 69th minute). Then Pescara was very dangerous in the 76th minute with Sgarbi, a tight ball on which Cangiano arrived late by nothing, perhaps even slightly unbalanced by Wisnieski. 10′ from the 90th minute, a double prodigious intervention by Desplanches to keep the result 1-1. The fourth new member of the Delfino was Squizzato in the 85th minute, who replaced a bruised but generous Olzer. In injury time, in the 93rd minute, Artistico’s goal gave the home team the victory and the guests a terrible insult.
