«A difficult year comes to an end which has left me with a very tough challenge. What to ask for 2026? It would be easy to dream of recovery but I would be happy not to have any more bad news. This is why tonight, even without great celebrations, I thank life for still being there. Happy New Year to everyone, may it give you health and lots of serenity.”
He writes it on Instagram Igor Prottiformer striker (among others) of Bari, Livorno, Lazio and Naples. Protti, 58 years old, discovered in 2025 that he had colon cancer for which he has been undergoing treatment for months. In September, for his birthday, some former Bari teammates went to visit him at his home in Cecina, giving him a very welcome surprise.
