hard climbs and descents. Time trials are not enough against Pogacar and Vingegaard

Behind Tadej Pogacar, who at the moment seems unreachable for everyone, in the general classification of the Tour de France there is Remco Evenepoel. White jersey and second place in the standings after the first four very intense days of racing for the Belgian: there have certainly been worse starts than the Grand Tours.

The captain of Soudal-QuickStep, also supported by an excellent Mikel Landa, he was again the last to give way uphill on the accelerations of the aforementioned Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard. In the mountains the first two seem to be in another category, but the former world champion still manages to keep a steady pace that does not distance him too much from the top.

Unfortunately, at the moment the Belgian in a clash with the two winners of the last four Grande Boucle still seems one step, if not two, behind. The gap is double for Evenepoel: there is on the climbswhere it pays, even if little, but constantly, and there is above all in descentwhere today he managed to lose almost 20” from his rivals.

The advantage can certainly be found in time trials.: the reigning world champion appears to be a step above all the others, but the gaps cannot be exorbitant, given that Vingegaard and Pogacar also know how to have their say in the time trials. The final victory seems utopian at the moment, the podium instead is a real objective.
