As of today, Tuesday 2 July, Gianmarco Lucchesi is a Toulon player. The news of the transfer to France of the Benetton and Italian national team hooker was only awaited for official confirmation, after the media had reported it for some time.
The announcement from the French club confirms the press rumors of the past few weeks. Lucchesi, whose contract with Benetton Rugby is expiring, has signed an agreement with the transalpine club for the next two seasons until June 30, 2026.

Gianmarco Lucchesi has carved out a leading role for himself in recent years as number 2 for Benetton Rugby and Italy. Together with Giacomo Nicotera he formed a young hooker duo with whom the Veneto club reached the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup and the URC playoffs, and who has achieved increasingly interesting results with the Italian national team.
For this reason, both profiles have attracted the attention of the French Top 14, where both will play next season and where they will compete: Nicotera with the Stade Français jersey, Lucchesi with that of Toulon.
