Today, Tuesday 2 July, the fourth stage of the 2024 Tour de France takes place. Here they come mountains and things start to get seriouswith one of the most anticipated stages of the entire Grande Boucle, which leaves Italy starting from Pinerolo to return to France and arrive in Valloire after climbing the legendary Col du Galibier. Great anticipation for another episode of the duel between Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.

LIVE COVERAGE OF TODAY’S TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE FROM 13.15

There are only 139 kilometers to travel today, but they are filled with climbs for a total of 3600 meters of altitude difference. Immediately after the start, the climb will begin towards Sestrière, a long second category GPM that will lead to a summit at over 2000 metres of altitude (it is practically 40 kilometres at 3.7%). A short descent and then the climb will begin again towards the Col de Montenevre (8.3 km at 5.9%)where you will return to transalpine land. Another short stretch of favorable road before entering the slight slope that will lead to the foot of the iconic Galibier Passa category hors at 2642 m (23 km at 5.1%). The summit will be 19 km from the finish, from here it’s just a nosedive to Valloire.

If yesterday was a long transfer, today fireworks are expected. The main course is obviously the duel between the two champions, with Pogacar and Vingegaard sure to find themselves facing each other.. The Slovenian tested the Dane’s leg on San Luca, who responded in a big way, let’s see today who will make the first move, even if all the clues point to the UAE Team Emirates standard-bearer. Behind them it will be interesting to understand the real values, with a brilliant Remco Evenpoel and a little more in difficulty Primoz Roglic. There are obviously many names to take into consideration, and for Italy there will be the first real test for Julius Ciccone.

The official start of the fourth stage of the Tour de France 2024 will be at 1.15pm, while the arrival time is expected between 5.05pm and 5.37pm, depending on the average time of the group.
