It’s been 12 years since Sara Errani played his final at Roland Garros (defeat in two sets against the Russian Maria Sharapova). Today, Saturday 8 June, he tries Jasmine Paoliniwho in the last act in Paris faces the number one in the world, the Pole Iga Swiatek (3pm on Court Philippe-Chatrier). He will try, despite being aware of the many difficulties, to repeat the success (and so far the only one for an Italian tennis player) of Francesca Schiavonewhich triumphed in France in 2010.
Swiatek, almost perfect numbers at Roland Garros
Numbers in hand, Swiatek he won 34 out of 35 matches at Roland Garros and in the previous two he beat Paolini, conceding just three games per match. Jasmine, however, has reached her peak of maturity and will play the final as a top 10 in pectore. He is virtually number 7 in the world, but in case of triumph he would enter the top 5. «Dreaming is the most important thing in life and in sport. I don’t know what to say right now”, said the Italian after the match won in the semi-final against the Russian Mirra Andreeva.
Bolelli-Vavassori, where to watch the doubles final on TV
As for the men’s doubles draw, today the couple Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori play their second consecutive Slam final, after the loss in January at the Australian Open. They face the couple formed by the Croatian Mate Pavic and Salvadoran Marcelo Arevalo (second match on Court Philippe-Chatrier). The Azzurri can become the first Italian Slam champions in Paris since 1959.
