The two former Slam winning tennis players (if the first triumphed at Roland Garros, the second won the US Open) who in the past have also won this event dedicated to the great glories of the racket, took center stage for an exchange that turned out to be hilariousalso making her opponents laugh as well as the audience.

On the occasion of a point against the pair formed by Dechy and Puig, Pennetta found herself at the net involved in a close call and response with her opponent which was not decisive. Faced with an unreachable lob for Flavia, her partner Francesca di lei came into play with a sensational number: Schiavone invented a tweener, or the recovery shot from under the legs, with his back to the opposing half of the pitch. All accompanied by shouts of “mine” and “yours” to give directions on the movements to do on the pitch.

Well positioned, however, Dechy and Puig defended the net well, putting Pennetta in difficulty who, with a recovery, managed to send the ball back to the other side of the pitch, but losing the racket. Her tool slipped from her hand and ended up on the Parisian red clay, and here Pennetta had to invent a nice attempt to recover from a disadvantaged position.

Without a racket, the Apulian tennis player started jumping and gesticulating dramatically to try to induce her opponent to make a mistake, in a curious and funny scene. In the end, however, there was nothing to be done despite Schiavone’s attempt, initially almost in disbelief, with Dechy-Puig who made the point. Schiavone and Pennetta hugged each other amid laughter, with the stadium enjoying the exchange quite a bit with thunderous applause. The smiles also proved to be contagious for the opponents, who were very amused by what happened, confirming the beautiful atmosphere of the Roland Garros Legends tournament.
