Carboni, it is forbidden to make another loan mistake. What if he stayed at Inter?

The Argentine will return to Milan in January: pros and cons of his possible stay under Chivu’s orders

It was supposed to be the right springboard to relaunch his career, but it turned out to be a flop: Valentin Carboni’s loan to Genoa proved to be a failure, and the Argentine is destined to return to Inter in January. After having effectively missed the whole of last season due to the injury he suffered against Marseille and after the difficulties of recent months in Liguria, it will be essential for the class of 2005 not to miss his next destination. The important thing will be to find playing time, so as to be able to show those qualities that emerged at a very young age and quickly become a memory, despite only being 20 years old. But the question now is this: what if the best solution was to stay at Inter?

Why yes

In Milan, first of all, Carboni would find a coach like Chivu who knows him very well, who had no problems launching him in the Primavera when he was just 16 years old and who has shown that he is not afraid to let young people play, as demonstrated not only with Esposito, but also with the various Sucic and Bonny. Furthermore, Inter lack a player with his characteristics, capable of inventing the play and breaking the mold even during the match in progress. Without forgetting that the season could reserve some unforeseen events: already today there will be three attackers available to the Nerazzurri, considering Bonny’s injury, to which Spinaccè will be added, “taken” from the U23s. An extra resource for the advanced department could be very useful.

Why not

The cons, however, are not lacking. After a year and a half in which, in fact, he did not play (or did so very little), the most important thing for a 20-year-old player is to play, regardless of the team and the context. Doing so during the current season is certainly not easy, but we cannot forget that in the summer of 2024 Valentin Carboni became South American champion with Argentina, under the protective wing of a certain Lionel Messi. It’s hard to think that it was overrated at the time, or at the same time that people have forgotten how to play today. At Inter, space would risk being very limited, elsewhere he could end up entangled in difficult situations. His career is now at a crossroads: it is essential not to make mistakes.
