There are 23 players called up by Mister Raffaele Palladino for Atalanta-Inter, match of the 17th matchday of Serie A scheduled at 8.45pm at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo. Here’s who they are: Ahanor, Bernasconi, Brescianini; Carnesecchi, Comi; De Ketelaere, de Roon and Djimsiti; Éderson, Hien, Kolašinac, Krstović; Maldini, Musah, Pašalić; Rossi, Samardžić, Scalvini, Scamacca; Sportiello, Sulemana, Zalewsk and Zappacosta.
Palladino explored many options. The range available to the coach is wide, offering solutions for a 3-4-2-1 or a 3-4-3.
Towards 3-4-2-1
Together with Hien and Kolasinac, the returning Djimsiti should complete the back pack. In the midfield, the Ederson-de Roon pair, with Pasalic in a more advanced position together with Scamacca and De Ketelaere, the two certain of a place in Lookman’s orphaned attack. To face Chivu’s Milanese side, therefore, Palladino would seem to be oriented towards using the Croatian in a more balanced 3-4-2-1 compared to the heavy trident, leaving Maldini and Sulemana out, at least from the initial lineup.
If Djimsiti doesn’t make it, Musah is ready, who would be deployed – as in Genoa – in the middle of the field, with de Roon dropped back on the defensive line.
The alternative options
On the outside, Zappacosta will act on the right – given that Bellanova is injured and the Samardzic option has so far only been explored during the ongoing match (with Cagliari and Genoa) -, while on the left lane the ballot is open between Zalewski and Bernasconi which, at the moment, sees the former Inter Pole having the advantage.
A more remote hypothesis would involve the use of both from the first minute: Zalewski, with strong offensive qualities, would act on the left in the trident in place of Pasalic, with Scamacca and De Ketelaere, with Bernasconi providing cover in the usual role of full-back left winger.
