Pastore on Conte: “He sows sporting tension and traps for Inter. And in the first leg…”

“I think Conte always speaks for a field goal, you will remember the words after Monza-Napoli”, comments Pastore

Giuseppe Pastore, journalist from Cronache di Spogliatoio, commented on Antonio Conte’s words on Radio Tutto Napoli regarding the gap between his Napoli and Inter, Milan and Juve:

“Every coach never tells the truth when speaking to journalists, Allegri has been saying all year that the objective is to get to the top four, for Allegri’s career I don’t think that Allegri goes to Modric and tells him that the objective is to get to the quarter-finals, he is clearly there for another reason, then whether it is difficult is another matter, just as all the words must be examined, they must be filtered. In two weeks there is Inter-Napoli and Conte knows it very well and so we are also starting to also sow a bit of sporting tension. In the first leg it was also for this reason that Napoli won the direct clash with Inter, because the atmosphere heated up and also became rather more harsh and Inter fell into a sort of trap set by Napoli in terms of tension, not to mention what was said afterwards, which will probably return in the discussions of these two weeks.

I think Conte always speaks for a purpose on the pitch, you will remember the words after Monza-Napoli in April, the whole world was thinking of the Scudetto sprint, Conte shifted the focus of the discussion to his future, to the fact that he probably wouldn’t stay, then taking pressure off that team that was crushed by the pressure and helped them. Inter also gave him a hand at the end of the championship but it served to protect a team that reached the last months of the championship exhausted, so I believe that Conte knows his job very well.

In hindsight, in my opinion, by making a mistake, the words after Bologna in November were very strong and even quite heavy, but if we judge Napoli’s performance after that match they certainly had the effect of re-motivating themselves because in my opinion Napoli’s good end to the year also comes from a different Conte, not just from a team that has been rescheduled. But it was him who changed, who put it back on the pitch, who stopped crying about injuries and found a role for players like Lang, like Gutierrez now, but especially like Neres who had remained on the sidelines in the first two months. Evidently every year the fact of steps, of intervals of one or two months and for which Conte has been the best at continuously changing since the beginning of the season.”
