The lifeless body of a young man, apparently aged 25-30 years, was found in a field in Mira, a municipality in the province of Venice.

It was noticed late this morning, Wednesday 31 December, by a passer-by – an amateur photographer who was in the area to take some shots – who immediately notified the police who went to the scene.

According to initial information, the young man was dressed, lying on his side and he had a wound on his temple which appears consistent with a gunshot.

The body – which was located near a ditch for irrigating the fields – was intact and not in a state of decomposition. The death presumably dates back to a few days ago. The man has not yet been identified.

Together with the magistrate on duty, the coroner, the commander of the investigative unit of the Venice force, Giuseppe Battaglia, and the provincial commander, Marco Aquilio, were called to the scene.

From what we understand, the crime is being investigated homocide. The area where the body was seen is a few kilometers away from the industrial area of ​​Porto Marghera and the Fusina terminal, in a vast uncultivated agricultural property, far from buildings.

Currently, no firearms or other objects attributable to the crime have been found. Among the possible hypotheses there is also that the young man – perhaps a citizen of Eastern Europe – may have been the victim of a settlement of accounts.

The investigations that began hours ago are continuing even as the light fades, in the presence of the magistrate on duty, the deputy prosecutor Christian Del Turco, who is at the site of the discovery together with the investigators.
