Ukraine, Merz: “We are advancing the peace process”
“Today we held further consultations with our European and Canadian partners in the Berlin format,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz wrote on his X profile.
“We are advancing the peace process. Transparency and honesty are now required of everyone, including Russia”, concluded the German Chancellor.
Poland, Tusk: peace in Ukraine is “on the horizon”
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said peace in Ukraine was “on the horizon”, adding that there were reasons to hope that Russia’s nearly four-year war could end “fairly quickly”.
According to Polish media TVP World, Tusk made these statements today after speaking with European and Canadian leaders as part of the Berlin Format, a diplomatic initiative aimed at advancing the peace process in Ukraine.
“Peace is on the horizon, there is no doubt that things have happened that give reason to hope that this war can end, and quite quickly, but it is still a hope, far from being 100% certain,” the Polish leader said.

“I had a fruitful conversation with European leaders about our support for Ukraine, its security and the reconstruction of the country. Ultimately, the prosperity of a free Ukrainian state lies in EU membership. It is also a fundamental guarantee for security. Membership does not only benefit the countries that join the Union: as the subsequent waves of enlargement demonstrate, the whole of Europe benefits.” Commission President Ursula von der Leyen writes it in X.
