And even then she defended herself: «I have never had any ties to associations who finance Hamas”, said Stefania Ascari, M5S deputy, now in the crosshairs of the center-right precisely because of the case of Mohammad Hannoun, the president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy arrested on charges of having financed Hamas. The majority parties focus on the various missions abroad carried out by the parliamentarian together with Hannoun (in Syria she also asked for donations for the earthquake victims from her social profiles). And she first specifies: «I have full faith in the judiciary. If the investigations confirmed links with terrorists it would be very serious.” Then he replies: «I reject with disdain the defamatory accusations made against me. They are deliberate lies, constructed to delegitimize me.”
Pasionaria close to the pro Pal, Emilian from Correggio, 45 years old, Ascari has fought on the front line, often causing controversy for her initiatives. Ascari, in his second legislature with the M5S, she has always been combative. Even at the cost of going against the grain. In 2022 he presented a question on the Passante di Bologna. «Institutions cannot ignore citizens’ requests, especially when it concerns their health conditions and quality of life,” he explained at the time. The process of the work, in reality, had been unblocked (with an acceleration of the procedures) when Conte was at Palazzo Chigi. In the first 5 years in Montecitorio we spent above all on the red code against violence against women, on measures on gender equality and on the protection of minors. She talks like this: «I am a lawyer expert in criminal and immigration law, but I have been working since I was 14 years old. I have been a waitress, a dishwasher, a metalworker, an agricultural worker, a worker in a food company, a shop assistant in a supermarket, a switchboard operator. I experienced the factory». The centre-right has repeatedly asked for his resignation from the Anti-Mafia commission. This time too, she doesn’t back down.
