A great understanding is born between the two and the fake pop star shows interest, enough to create with the woman a strong emotional bond which, over the course of several weeks, turns into one real love story. The two talk constantly and even have virtual sex through chat. He is increasingly interested and asks the woman to meet in person. The 53-year-old begins to seriously believe in the singer’s interest and she becomes more and more eager to see him live.
It’s here that triggers the trap: when the prey is now at the mercy of his “beloved”, he asks her to do him a favor, that is, to help him collect a package that he would have sent to Italy from Korea to his address and containing gold and jewels worth about half a million dollars. The singer says that, once the woman had come into possession of the package, he would arrive in Italy to collect it and meet her. One day the 53-year-old was notified by the pop star’s agency that the package had been sent and was in Rome, but that it had been detained by customs, as the payment of a fee of $7,500.
At that point she was given the bank details of three people to whom she could make the money payments. The woman carries them out but, after some time, she is contacted again by the singer’s agency who asks her to make a further payment of 10,000 dollars. Seven months have passed and, for the first time, the 53-year-old is starting to open her eyes: she has lost her job because, caught up in the love story, she exchanges messages with the pop star all day and no longer has the economic resources to support those expenses.
At that point he turns to his lawyer, Lucia Lupi, who immediately senses the scam and presents a report to the postal police. The investigators track down the fake singer and trace the 34-year-old Nigerian. He is released from prison and, at the end of the investigation, he is sent to trial. Now he will have to appear before the judge of the Verbania court to be tried.
