Wicked, shown a deleted scene with Fiyero and Boq shirtless

Some time ago it was rumored that Wicked had shot and then cut a scene with Jonathan Bailey ed Ethan Slater shirtless, a rumor later confirmed and recently also shown to the curious public. Divided into two chapters, Wicked is directed by Jobs Men and is based on the successful musical of the same name which tells the origins of Elphaba, later known as the Wicked Witch of the West but who in Wicked not only becomes friends with Glinda, but discovers her own power. While the first part arrived at the cinema during 2024, the second concluded the story of Elphaba and Glinda in 2025 and recently a deleted scene with Fiyero and Boq was shared.

Bowen Yang had already anticipated a scene shot and then cut in Wicked with Fiyero and Boq in great shape intent on “ripping the shirt off” and, since then, the public has been wondering what happened to that scene. The mystery was recently revealed, with Entertainment Tonight who published the deleted scene that follows some of the students of Shiz University who instead of attending classes prefer to enjoy a day outdoors together. Elphaba, Glinda, Nessarose, Fiyero e Garden they head into the woods and have fun together, play badminton, have a picnic and laugh carefree, without knowing that the time of friendship is coming to an end.

In the scene deleted from the final cut, Boq grabs an ax to chop wood and follows Fiyero’s example, frantically eliminating his shirt while remaining bare-chested. According to Yang, however, that scene had previously been cut not only for time issuesbut also because Boq’s interpreter appeared too “excited” to make it credible that Boq was “insecure” next to a shirtless Fiyero. “They filmed an entire scene after Popular just to show the audience that they are all friends now: Fiyero, Glinda, Elphaba, Nessa, and Boq. All five running in the fields, relaxing. There was a moment, also witnessed by the paparazzi because they filmed in a park in London, where Boq and Fiyero take off their shirts. And so Jonathan Bailey was supposed to show himself in all his shirtless glory” Even Boq, feeling insecure at that moment, wanted to follow his example because “he wanted to appear attractive too. But then you realize that Ethan also has an amazing body. I might get in trouble for saying this, but the movie is already out, so that’s okay”.
