We Are Art Through The Eyes of Annalaura: what the documentary is about

Shot in Naples, We Are Art Through the Eyes of Annalaura, is a story imbued with creativity, aimed at promoting, in the wake of a renewed idea of social inclusion, hypotheses and prospects for a new start, based on a virtuous relationship between humanism and technology. It tells the path of the artist Annalaura di Luggo in creating an interactive installation: Colloculi with the shape of a giant eye in recycled aluminum (as a symbol of environmental protection) in whose pupil the multimedia work We Are Art comes to life. The starting point of the narration are the eyes of four boys, who reveal their human and poetic universe as well as the way in which they overcame adversity such as bullying, racial discrimination, blindness, alcohol and crime. Through the languages of video art, sound design and immersive reality, we see them undressing their prejudices and suffering while the observer remains captured by their gaze and, thanks to sophisticated cameras, becomes part of the scene, soliciting a comparison that does not it can be without consequences, because “looking into each other’s eyes” means preparing for dialogue and encounter. Eye as planet, as “human universe”. Eye as an infinity of differences that the artist leads back to the uniqueness of the work of art, be it photos, videos, films.

For me, – declares Annalaura di Luggo – every human being is a marvelous creature of God. I have always explored human nature through sight, investigating the eye, its expressions, its colours. The eye is the mirror of the soul. To do this, I developed and patented a special camera that allows me to explore the iris. I lay it bare, dilate it and transform it and from here I start all my creative journeys. My artistic and human experience revolves around the interest in the person, the affirmation of human values and of life. From this poetic clue comes a research expressed through a stylistic code that has allowed me to sign a work whose outcome oscillates between traditionally understood cinematography and the most advanced research of video art and 3D, between reportage and documentary and installation interactive. My work is always collective, it rarely revolves around a protagonist. In We Are Art I choose a transversal inclusion, that is by comparing various types of difficulties that can only find possible ways out with participation and sharing. We Are Art is not only a social and artistic research on human perception, but also an affirmation of the value of the individual as an active part of society. Here are the eyes of the four protagonists that I have chosen to reveal as many very singular stories of survival and redemption, transforming themselves into a great overall work of art, a visual symphony, with a social and socializing function.
