Interviewed by Vanity Fair magazine, Pedro Pascal spoke about his friend Paul Mescal declaring: “He’s gotten so strong. I’d rather be thrown off a building than have to fight him again.“.
The Last of Us protagonist commented on his difficulties on the set of the film Gladiator 2, adding: “Going against someone who is so fit, so talented and so much younger… Man, it’s brutal. I call him Brick Wall Paul.“.
Pascal reiterated, however, that it was worth it: “Besides Ridley being a total genius, Paul is one of the biggest reasons I put my poor body through that experience.“.
The choice of the protagonist
Mescal instead said that he wanted to transform himself physically in order to appear realistic in the part and that this also changed his physical and mental approach: “Sometimes, in trying to achieve that perfect look, you risk ending up more of an underwear model than a warrior.“.
