Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo “TRIBUTE TO MAURIZIO POLLINI” Concerts organized by the Italian Conservatories in commemoration of Maestro Maurizio Pollini
The Palermo Conservatory organizes the “Piano Day” event in memory of the Maestro with an 11-hour marathon of music with the students of the Pre-Academic and Academic Courses

The Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo organizes the event “Plan Day” in memory of Maestro Maurizio Pollini, who passed away on March 24th and who visited the Institute’s headquarters in 2017 and held a meeting with the students, in the same period in which he played at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. An exciting moment with the students of the Palermo Conservatory on music understood as a reason for life and tension towards the absolute. An important initiative experienced in Palermo with Maestro Maurizio Pollini, the pianist whose history as a man and as an artist is recognized throughout the world, applauded by the public and critics of all latitudes and across multiple generations. His piano interpretations, preserved in an extensive discography, are a point of reference for all students. For this reason, the Scarlatti Conservatory implements the initiative “Homage to Maurizio Pollini” which is carried out, from 20 to 22 June, simultaneously in various conservatories throughout Italy with numerous concerts organized by the Conference of Directors of Music Conservatories. The appointment at the Palermo Conservatory is scheduled for Friday 21 June 2024 starting from 3.00 pm until 10.00 pmwith a piano marathon of eleven hours, which features the students of the Pre-Academic and Academic Courses at the Sala Sollima and Sala Ferrara free entry while places last. The young musicians will take turns on stage in one continuous playing of songs taken from the immense piano repertoire.
The objective of the initiative is to celebrate the figure of Maestro Pollini and his immense influence on the world of classical music. Pollini was a point of reference for generations of pianists and his passing represents a great loss for international culture. The Scarlatti Conservatory, with this event, also wants to underline the centrality of the piano in the education of its students. The piano is not only a musical instrument, but also a life choice that requires dedication, discipline and passion for art. The tribute to Maurizio Pollini it will be a unique opportunity to listen to the young talents of the Scarlatti Conservatory and to immerse yourself in the beauty of classical music.
