From the Veneto region the request for the recognition of the state of emergency of national importance due to the bad weather that hit the provinces of Vicenza, Verona, Padua, Treviso, the metropolitan city of Venice and the municipality of Badia Polesine from 15 to 22 May ( Rovigo).
The technical report
The request, accompanied by a technical report, was sent to Rome after the signature of the president of the region Luca Zaia and addressed to the President of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Civil Protection and the Head of the National Department of Civil Protection. The document specified the reasons for the request for economic support to deal with the damage caused by the bad weather of recent weeks.
Damage over 200 million euros
«Considering the significant effects on the ground found in the territories – specifies Zaia – the regional offices of the Civil Protection Directorate promptly started an initial rapid reconnaissance of the damage from which it emerges that public property alone has suffered damage amounting to 270 million euros». The technical report, in fact, represents the outcome of a rapid survey aimed at defining the amount necessary for public interventions. After the possible recognition of the state of emergency of national importance, a subsequent reconnaissance will be launched to ascertain the damage to private individuals and production activities.
