Bari, residents against reserved parking spaces: appeal rejected

With a ruling dated 31 May, the Puglia Regional Administrative Court rejected the appeal presented by some residents of Madonnella against the Municipality’s decision, at the request of the Carabinieri command, to establish 6 parking spaces reserved for the police in via Dalmazia. A decision that had infuriated the residents of a neighborhood where the parking problem is very serious.

“From the point of view of precautionary needs, the interested parties reported that the effects of the contested decision have “severe repercussions on the freedom of action and the quality of life of the inhabitants who are forced to wander around in circles often for an indefinite period in desperate search of a place to park – we read in the ordinance – the ZSR is activated on site to meet the parking needs of the residents of the Madonnella district”. The judges also recall that the Municipality has reduced the available stalls from ten to 6.

“The precautionary application must be rejected – conclude the judges – without prejudice to the obligation of the municipal administration, through the local police force, to ensure, also following documented reporting by the interested parties, the monitoring and verification of the ‘effective and continuing interest in maintaining the parking spaces in question, due to the concrete use of the same by the Carabinieri.’
