It took a dutiful, lucid, clear statement from the Curva Fiesole to break the silence. A ray of light, a sudden jolt to revive a city that had not (and has not) yet recovered from the evening in Athens. The muffled sound of controversy, anger and disappointment now gives way to a hope, that society will receive the message and finally speak againpossibly in an honest and transparent way.
An inexplicable silence
Because the other great silence, in addition to that of a sporting city destroyed by the result in Athens, was that of society. Two days before the final not even a statement, a word, two lines from any player, manager or perhaps even Rocco Commisso. Not so much about the match itself, on the other hand the bitterness and the desire to avoid immediate comments is understandable, but at least a thank you to all those fans who followed the team in Athens was a must.
A “thank you” would have been enough
But no. Total silence, complete indifference and modus operandi as if nothing had happened even by simply looking at the latest publications on official channels. Will anyone speak next week? Perhaps. In any case, even if Commisso, Pradé or whoever has the courage to finally come forward and grant explanations, days and days will have already passed since Athens. And to those ten thousand no one will have said thank you yet.
