There fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024 it is Genoa-Lucca. The length is 178km and is classified as one 3 star stop. Height difference 1,800 meters. After leaving Liguria, the pink race caravan heads to Tuscany, with a route along the Tyrrhenian coast and then closing the fraction in the hinterland. The first classified category climb also makes its debut, but once again a sprint finish is possible.
Route of the fifth stage: Genoa-Lucca
The stage crosses the provinces of Genoa, crossing places such as Rapallo and Lavagna, La Spezia, where the Bracco Pass is located, Massa Carrara, and then leaving the coast going towards Lucca.
Altimetry of the fifth stage
The stage is divided along the Aurelia state road, with several small bumps and curves. We then continue towards the first GPM, the third category Passo del Bracco, and then head down the hill facing a long flat stretch until we have passed 150 km from the start and tackle the last climb, the third category Montemagno. Possible group selection with pure sprinters cut out. Flat finish.

There are two main asperities on the programme: the third category Passo del Bracco, 15.2 km long and with average gradients of 3.9%, and the fourth category Montemagno climb, a 3 km climb at 4.3%.
