The municipal elections in Lecce ended amidst poison, threats and intimidation. And the Democratic Party deputy ended up in the crosshairs, Claudio Stefanazzi (former chief of staff of the Puglia Region), the regional councillor Alessandro Delli Nuts and the former municipal councilor Fabiana Cicirillo. Mayor Adriana Poli Bortone, in light of the incidents, asked and obtained from the Prefect Luca Rotondi the urgent convocation of the committee for public order and safety which will be held on Saturday morning.

Loredana Capone, president of the Regional Council, concludes: “The political debate, the salt of democracy, cannot be tainted by these acts of violence, nor can we risk it being influenced in the slightest by this. We must all stand together to reject this aggression. Each must do so from their own role, of majority and opposition”.
