Avellino, Nargi towards the nomination of the city council: only ten new faces

The one who will take office in just over a week in Avellino it will be a city council with many well-known facesbut also several new features. The majority patrol, which will support the new mayor Laura Nargi, in fact, certainly includes Marianna Mazza, elected in the «Davvero» list, already councilor for Housing Policies and, with the 721 preferences obtained, the most voted of this electoral round.

This circumstance also makes her the senior councilor, so she will be the one to manage the first meeting of the assembly, acting as the president of the council.

The group «Davvero», composed of 12 councilorsrecords an almost exclusive presence of veterans. Mazza is followed by former councilor Jessica Tomasetta, Antonio Genovese (historical councilor and assessor, already in the saddle during the time of mayor Giuseppe Galasso), Mario Spiniello (former councilor), Gianluca Gaeta (former councilor), Giuseppe Negrone (like Genovese a very long-standing administrator), Giovanna Vecchione (former councilor), Ugo Maggio (former councilor and former president of the council), Luigi Preziosi (former councilor) and Elia De Simone (former councilor). The only new faces are Nicole Mazzeo and Michele Lombardi. Remaining in the majority, but moving to the group “Siamo Avellino”, things are reversed. The elected councilors are six and with the exception of Alberto Bilotta, son of the historic administrator Gerardo, who has already been a councilor in two previous councils, the others are all new faces: Luigi Mattiello, Olimpia Rusolo, Fabio Liberale, Antonella Coppola and Gerardo Rocchetta. Then, the third majority group, “Long live freedom”, which brings two veterans to the council: former councilors Monica Spiezia and Teresa Cucciniello.

So, the groups elected to the opposition. We start from the largest, that of the Democratic Party, who supported the mayoral candidate Antonio Gengarowhich brings to the City Hall four administrators with very long service: Nicola Giordano (who was a councilor during the time of Giuseppe Galasso and a councilor several times), Enza Ambrosone (councilor with Di Nunno and a councilor on several occasions), Ettore Iacovacci (historical councilor) and Luca Cipriano (former councilor and former president of the “Gesualdo” theater). The list directly linked to Gengaro, “Per Avellino”, is represented by two councilors, the veteran Amalio Santoro and the newcomer Antonio Bellizzi. For the 5 Star Movement, there is the return to the chamber of Antonio Aquino, former councilor with the mayor Vincenzo Ciampi, while the list “Avellino Progetto Partecipato” brings to the council the candidate for mayor Antonio Gengaro, former deputy mayor with Antonio Di Nunno and president of the city council with Giuseppe Galasso.

So the elected officials who supported the mayoral candidate Rino Genovese in the first round and who, despite having been elected in opposition, following the agreement signed before the runoff, should soon make their move to the benches of the majority (and perhaps also of the council). First of all, the list of “Moderates and Reformists”, sponsored by regional councilor Livio Petitto, which promotes two historic faces of the city council: Giuseppe Giacobbe and Sergio Trezza, both councilors several times and with experience in the council (Giacobbe with Festa and Trezza with Galasso). Then, the list “Forza Avellino”, which brings back to the assembly another historic face of the city administration, Gerardo Melillo, while the “Civic Pact for Avellino” elects the candidate for mayor Rino Genovese, at his first experience in the assembly of the capital. This is the picture at the moment, but any appointments to the council could change it even significantly.

Among the most voted on the «Davvero» list, where at least a couple of councilors will likely be fished out, for example, are the newcomer Mario Sorice, but also the veterans Antonio Cosmo and Guido D’Avanzo (the latter already councilor with Galasso).
