LISTEN TO LAURA CASTELLI’S STATEMENTS

MESSINA – “Cateno De Luca’s national project is not over”. This was stated firmly by Laura Castelli, president of Sud Chiama Nord. “In a political landscape dominated by traditional parties that struggle to respond to the real needs of citizens”, the civic movement led by the mayor of Taormina stands out for its “pragmatic vision and territorial roots”. Castelli clarified that, despite the challenges faced in the European elections, the movement’s path is destined to continue and strengthen. “Sud Chiama Nord is a civic movement that has been present throughout Italy for some time now – she begins – with committees made up of members in every region. Our work continues in the territories, proposing good administration, the same good administration of Cateno De Luca that we are exporting outside Sicily and to the municipalities”.

Goal and priorities

The movement’s goal is clear: “To bring the model of good administration, successfully tested in Sicily, to all Italian regions. With our regional and provincial commissioners we are already building the administrative agenda for 2025” Castelli said. “South Calls North – she continues – together with its civic worlds, will present itself to make a difference in an Italian system that too often prefers to ignore civic movements born from below”. The president highlighted how the movement differs from the large national parties: “These parties – she concludes – no longer see the real problems of the territories. We, with our great civic traction, network with local entities that have supported us in activities capable of highlighting the differences”.

Among the priorities of Sud Chiama Nord, Castelli listed drought, waste management, public services and healthcare. “Healthcare, from north to south,” he observes, “is a big problem. Even today, there are more than 4.5 million Italians who choose not to seek treatment because the service is not guaranteed. In this context, Piedmont holds a sad negative record.”

“Notice to Mariners”

With a passionate tone, Castelli launched a message of resistance and determination, referring to the National Assembly of ScN last Friday in Fiumedinisi. “Warning to sailors: you have not taken into account the tenacity and passion of a community that does not allow itself to be scratched by some jackal. Five hours of assembly, five hours of debate in the square, in a transparent way. Find me another leader like Cateno De Luca who the day after the elections decides to analyze the vote in such a participatory way”.

“The Movement in the institutions”

Castelli then highlighted the need to exploit the movement’s presence in institutions to promote good administration: “We must exploit our presence in institutions to the fullest to bring out the good administration branded Sud Chiama Nord and Cateno De Luca. We are different from those who want to be in opposition for life and from those who stop to govern with slogans. We are government machines, of good administration, and we are used to getting our hands dirty solving people’s problems.”

The Future of ScN

The future of the movement, according to Castelli, also passes through a renewed attention to Sicily: “Today the objective of Sicily remains central and priority, and the national project can really take off only with Cateno De Luca as president of the Sicilian Region! Sicily is a wonderful land that will see me increasingly present, with greater commitment, to crown together with you a dream of freedom”.

With these words, Laura Castelli reiterated her commitment and that of the movement towards a future of change, based on a policy that starts from the real needs of citizens and that is committed to solving the problems that others have created. “The national project goes forward, and I thank Cateno once again for his trust in me,” she concluded. “As we have reiterated in recent days, we will cultivate our project in the territories that want to express good politics. Good administration solves the disasters created by others and does so in the best way, following the model that Cateno De Luca has built over all these years.”
