ROVIGO – Simba, Yuma, Mia and Zoe are looking for a home together with their humans, but it seems that in Rovigo no one is willing to give them a roof. «My partner and I have been looking for a home for almost three years, but every time we say that together we have only a few people we hear the answer no”, reports Sara Libero, the owner of the felines who, through Gabriella Gibin, president of the Coordinamento Tutela Diritti Animali Rovigo, gave resonance to her request. “We have been renting a house in the center of Rovigo since 2020 – says Sara Libero -. We live with these four wonders that are our family. Two and a half years ago the owner of our house put the house up for sale, but we couldn’t afford to buy it. We have until October 2025 to find a new place to stay, then we will find ourselves without a place to stay”.

The owner did not wait for the contract to expire and therefore started looking for a suitable housing solution for the couple and the four cats: «My boyfriend has a permanent job, while I lost my job with Covid and I took action by cleaning. Every day I look at the available apartments in Rovigo, those between 450-480 euros per month. I went around all the real estate agencies. I also went to see some houses, the first thing I always say is that we have four cats and as soon as I say it the owners back out. What should I do, abandon them? I just can’t think of it». Simba (the red one), Yuma (the black one), Mia (the tricolor one) and Zoe (the scaly one) are well-behaved house cats who are perfectly integrated with each other, as their human points out: «We are desperate, also because a few weeks ago I found an apartment in a complex where there are other people with pets. It seemed done, instead, I was called back and they told me no, that nothing more was possible. My biggest concern is that if I’ve been looking for almost three years without finding anything, will I be able to find a place for all six of us to stay together? We also applied to Ater years ago, but they didn’t assign us accommodation.”
