The only variations, albeit minimal, concern the positions of Virgilio Terranova and Salvatore Valenti (fourteen years and five months compared to fourteen years and eight months). For the rest, the decision, subjected to annulment by the Supreme Court with respect to one of the aggravating circumstances, was confirmed. Sixteen years and four months for Giacomo Gerbino, considered the organizer of the drug trafficking; ten years and eight months for Fortunato Vella from Vittoria who allegedly provided support in the Ragusa area; ten years for Gaetano Renna and Bartolomeo Palmieri (in continuation of a previous sentence); nine years for Giovanni Tumino; eight years and eight months for Salvatore Raniolo; three years and four months for Giuseppe Iapichello. The only one who was not charged with the most serious hypothesis of association is Carmelo Pellegra (two years and eight months on appeal). The investigators reconstructed the drug deal that would have had a nerve center in the city, with support in the squares of Catania and Vittoria. All the defendants, through their defense, opted for the abbreviated trial.
