“Castelli Aperti” continues, the event that allows you to discover the artistic, cultural and historical heritage of Piedmont through its historic homes.

Also on Sunday 7 July it will be possible to visit over 60 historical properties – villas, castles, museums and palaces – located throughout the Piedmont region. The initiative, supported by the Piedmont Region, will allow visitors to discover ancient homes often closed to the public in contiguous geographical areas in order to organize a tailor-made itinerary in a single day.

In the Novara area there are two events:

  • at Castello Dal Pozzo in Oleggio Castello: guided tours by reservation in the morning. From the outside, the castle has a very compact appearance. The grandiose landscaping emphasizes everything. The 24-hectare park is surrounded by rare trees of great botanical interest. The entrance portico, the chapel, the massive square tower to the east, the small octagonal tower on the south-western edge, reveal the spirit of the Anglo-Saxon style. The architecture blends with the interior decoration typical of the period. The stained glass windows of the small windows of the apse of the chapel, the wrought iron gates inspired by Scottish models, high reliefs set into the external walls of the building, coats of arms and sculptures of various origins. • at Castello di Vinzaglio: open only by reservation by calling 346.7621774. The current owner, a restorer, has personally carried out the restoration work on the castle and leads visitors to discover the noble part of the residence, the service buildings and the green spaces surrounding the castle.

In Vco, instead, the appointment is at Villa Taranto, from 9 to 19 (last entry at 18). For information: 0323.502372; [email protected]. The Scottish captain Neil Mc Eacharn (1884-1964) created these wonderful gardens in 1931 and donated them to the Italian State. The visit is a sensory experience that winds through the 16 hectares of the park where you can admire 20 thousand plants of particular botanical value, more than 80 thousand bulbs in bloom in the spring months and over 150 thousand border plants that carpet the numerous flowerbeds.
