MODENA “A top player for the category”. This is how Modena has dubbed the first purchase of the Gialloblù summer and of the new sporting director Andrea Catellani.

THE ARRIVAL
It’s about Mattia Caldaracentral defender who at the end of his contract with Milan has tied himself to the Canary Island club until 30 June 2025, with an option to extend in favour of the club. A profile with 127 appearances in Serie A, 4 in the Champions League and 47 in Serie B: a lot of experience available to Pier Paolo Bisoli for the defensive department.

THE CARREER
Class of 1994 Bergamoin 2004 he joined the Atalanta youth team and after going through the Youth Sector he made his Serie A debut on 18 May 2014, at the age of 20. In the summer of the same year he moved to Trapani for his first season among the big boys and collected 20 appearances with 2 goals, the following year he confirmed his place in Serie B with the Cesena shirt (27 appearances and 3 goals). Back in Bergamo, in two seasons he collected 55 appearances and 10 goals, between Serie A, Europa League and Coppa Italia. In the meantime, in January 2017 Juventus bought him and the following summer he moved to Milan on a permanent deal: with the Rossoneri he made his debut in the Europa League but was then stopped by a series of physical problems that kept him away from the pitch for over a year. In January 2020 he started again fromAtalanta: he immediately found the starting shirt again, finishing with 16 appearances in the second half of the season alone, while the following year he was once again plagued by injuries. He found continuity in Serie A between 2021 and 2003, in the two years on loan at Venezia and Spezia (55 appearances). Last season, an ankle problem kept him out for a long time, but on the last day of the championship he made his debut in A league with the Milan shirt.
